WINGS: FOR THE ASPIRING FOODIE
BUFFALO WINGS have become a staple in American cuisine. Whether you’re watching the big game or just looking for a spicy snack, these wings are sure to satisfy your craving. But did you know that there are actually four levels to enjoying a plate of buffalo wings? From amateur to food scientist, here’s how to level up your wing game.
THE AMATEUR
We all have to start somewhere, and for many of us, that means ordering wings at our local sports bar or fast food joint. For the amateur, the goal is simple: find wings that are crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. And of course, there’s the all-important choice of sauce. Whether you opt for classic buffalo, honey BBQ, or something more adventurous, the amateur is content with keeping it simple and enjoying the taste of a good wing.
THE ENTHUSIAST
As you develop your wing palate, you’ll likely start to seek out higher quality wings and sauces. You might be willing to pay a little more for wings from a specialty restaurant or visit a famous wing spot. You’ll be sampling unique flavors, such as jerk seasoning or Asian-inspired sauces, and you’ll be experimenting with dipping sauces and rubs. Your appreciation for buff wings will grow, and you’ll start to recognize differences in quality and flavor.
THE AFICIONADO
When you’ve reached aficionado status, you know your stuff when it comes to wings. You’ll be making your own wing sauce recipe, cooking wings at home or air fryer, and making sure the wings are cooked to perfection every time. You might experiment with brining or marinating the chicken before cooking to add extra flavor. The aficionado takes pride in his or her ability to perfectly balance the levels of heat and acidity in a homemade sauce, and they will probably have a variety of sauces on hand to suit every mood and occasion.
THE FOOD SCIENTIST
Finally, for those who want to take their buffalo wing game to the next level, there’s the food scientist. This type of wing lover is truly passionate about creating the perfect recipe, and they’re willing to experiment with every element of the wing-making process. They’ll use molecular gastronomy techniques, such as sous-vide cooking or liquid nitrogen-infused sauces to create flavor combinations that are truly out-of-this-world. They might even consider plating their wings in a fancy way like in a gourmet restaurant.
Whether you’re an amateur looking to explore the world of buffalo wings or a food scientist seeking out flavor combinations that will blow your mind, one thing is certain. There’s no better way to spend an afternoon or evening than with a plate of spicy, delicious wings. So grab some friends, turn on the game, and enjoy the delicious ride!
I hate when I try to type “I love Yuji” but it autocorrects to “I love you”…
Only the real ones will get it
level 3 was the worst
Emily can make buffalo wings for me anytime! Love it!
isn't a drumstick part of the leg?
Can't believe this video got 23K likes so far. Only 1 person made buffalo wings
The chef’s got a meticulous method to each step… it’s fascinating to watch
Don't over complicate wings, second option wasn't even wings
is this the guy who put raspberries in his turkey sandwich and blackberries in his grilled cheese? And now he's using drumsticks for his buffalo wings?
yall hating on daniel need to stop. yea they arent wings but his looked the best imo. Emilys looked great too. Yujis was a little too out of the box for me.
Is anyone here after Emily leveled up to a home cook? Just me? OK.
blended tofu is such a great texture im sure it was delicious! but yeah emily blue cheese is my go to
Daniel gets 2 "F"s 1. he didn't use wings 2. he used ranch. Fire this man.
Level 1 looked great..level 2 does not know anatomy.
I thought bonito flakes are tuna
Daniel learned how to fry chicken during his frying practice, but he didn't learn how to differentiate between a leg and a wing. Also I laughed when he said I will do my sauce from the scratch and used premade mayonnaise. Daniel is literally me pretending I know how to cook. Although his legs look delicious (pan intended)
NO RANCH! True wings have to have blue cheese. Don’t call them Buffalo Wings otherwise
emily's version is the most simple and the best tasting i bet. The worst seems to be the home cook. and the japanese one, seems like meh.
You could stick to everyone's concept of Buffalo wings by not going crazy. You could enhance or perfect the basic recipe since at most places you order them they aren't that great. That would've been a better assignment.
The second level guy and girl are usually my favorite, but this time, yikes! Drumsticks no!
This is the second video of this "series" I've watched. Neither pro chef actually made anything close to the dish they were supposed to be making.
In this one, as anither commenter mentionef, Emily is the only one who made Buffalo Wings.
I wanna try th3 lvl 3 chefz recipe
yuji is just making a completely unrelated dish
Why do the white people go out of their way to be cringey
