Designer Anamika Khanna and UK-based designer Emilia Wickstead partnered up to co-create a printed gown worn by Bollywood celebrity Sonam Kapoor at the UK’s Coronation Concert. Kapoor wore the floor-length cream gown decorated with botanical prints in an illustrative style while performing a spoken word piece to introduce Steve Winwood and the Commonwealth virtual choir.
HISTORIC MOMENTS CALL FOR FASHION MOMENTS
Sonam Kapoor announced on Facebook that it was an honour to wear the collaborative vision of two of the most incredible designers from the two countries she considers home. Kapoor has worked closely with both designers over the years and worn many of their designs but this is the first time the designers collaborated on a piece together.
THE DESIGNERS BEHIND THE GOWN
Emilia Wickstead designed the gown itself while Anamika Khanna designed its calico-inspired print. The collaboration was orchestrated by stylist and friend of Kapoor Nikhil Mansata. Sonam Kapoor lives between London, UK and Mumbai and has become a regular face on the fashion scenes in both countries, making her a popular choice to take part in the concert.
