Smythe, a renowned British artist, showcased his exceptional talent at the Royal Academy London in 1879 with his masterpiece, “Kindred Spirits.” This enchanting painting depicts a young girl on a swing, accompanied by two adorable kittens.
Believed to be Smythe’s daughter, Nora, frolicking in the garden of their London residence at 36 Gloucester Crescent, the original painting (76 x 56 cm) is now housed in the prestigious Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool.
In this video, we unveil another exquisite work of art from the same year. This larger rendition of the theme features the artist’s daughter, accompanied by a dog and a cat. It exemplifies Smythe’s signature style and artistic brilliance. The painting, titled “Verwandte Seelen” (Related Souls), measures 85 x 60 cm, and its provenance traces back to a noble South German private collection.
