I will show you how to get amazing free apps that will let you stream loads of content, like live TV channels, the newest movies, and the latest TV episodes. As you’ve probably already discovered, there are certain apps that you can’t get from the Amazon app store. But that does not mean it’s impossible to install them. To do so, your Firestick must be jailbroken. Well, actually, you can’t jailbreak a Firestick, but it is a term that most people are familiar with. All that means for a Firestick is to make one change within the settings. It’s not complicated, so don’t worry. We’ll go through everything you need, step by step, to fully load your Firestick.

First, we need an app called downloader that you can get from the Amazon app store. Tap over the search icon, then select the search box. Use the on-screen keyboard to type in “downloader.” As you type, suggestions will appear below, and you’ll see downloader. Tap on it and select the orange downloader app, install, and open it. Make sure to choose “allow” to allow downloader access to your device. This will ensure that downloader can be used to download files onto your Firestick. Then, click “ok” to dismiss the quick start guide.

Now we have the downloader app installed, and we can use it to download files such as APK files, which are installation files. But you won’t be able to install any APK files without changing the Firestick settings first. Go into your Firestick settings by tapping over the Cog icon, then select My Fire TV. Here, you will see developer options. However, don’t panic if you can’t see them. The developer options are hidden on some Firesticks. If they are hidden for you, select “about,” tap on the name of your Firestick around seven times, and you’ll see a message at the bottom of the screen that says, “no need, you are already a developer.” Then tap the back button, and you’ll now be able to see and select developer options.

Now I’m not sure how many Firesticks are affected by the developer options being hidden, so if they were hidden on yours, comment down below and let me know what Firestick you’re using. Select developer options, select install unknown apps, and select the downloader app to turn this permission from off to on. Now we can use the downloader app to download APK files and install them.

Now that that’s all done, nothing is stopping you from now installing apps onto your Firestick from other places, such as my downloads page. Open downloader and type in “28907,” then click “go.” Wait a few seconds for my downloads page to load. Then, press the menu button on your remote and press it again to enter full-screen mode.

Tap down the screen to view a list of categories. This download page has over 400 apps across categories such as live TV, movies and TV, music, radio and podcasts, news, sports, and app stores. Click on any category to jump right to that section. App stores, for example, feature apps such as APK time and Aptoide TV. If you install either of these, it’ll be a bit like having the Google Play Store on your Firestick, as you’ll have access through these stores to thousands more apps for your Firestick that you won’t find on the Amazon app store.

Select any app from my downloads page that you want to install, and then on the next screen, move down until you see a blue download button. Click on it to download the APK file. Once it’s downloaded, select install, click done, then click delete and delete again to remove the APK file. It’s no longer needed and will just take up space on your Firestick storage. You can then go to your app screen and open the newly downloaded app from there.

The only problem you might have now is running out of space to install these additional apps.
