This week’s Haute Couture season in Paris kicked off with a sensational show at Schiaparelli. The show, held at the Petit Palais, featured a front row of clients dressed in Schiaparelli finery, as well as several stars such as Kylie Jenner, Diane Kruger, Marisa Berenson, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, and Doja Cat. The show was inspired by Dante’s Divine Comedy and featured a range of animal fantasies made of resin and faux fur, as well as a range of intricate couture pieces. Designer Daniel Roseberry opened the show with a shell-encrusted bustier over black jersey pants, accessorized with triangular gilded brass face earrings. Throughout the show, Roseberry referenced the bottle shape of the house’s signature fragrance Shocking in pieces such as a stretch velvet corset and a white tailored jacket. Other pieces included extremely regal hourglass quilted coats, radical boleros, and hand-painted guipure blouse with a grand collar. Many of the models wore conical bras with their finished coats and jackets. The show ended with a Diana Ross remix by Lullabies & Lullabies, and Roseberry was congratulated by Anna Wintour for his triumph. Schiaparelli’s show was a great success, and a refreshing reminder of the beauty and craftsmanship of couture fashion.
