Hello friends, welcome to my channel! In this new recipe, we are embracing our Mexican heritage as we celebrate Mexico’s Independence Day by making a classic Mexican dish – Tacos de Canasta.

We all have our own version of the perfect recipe, so let’s agree that this is my take on Tacos de Canasta (Tacos in a Basket). Let’s dive into the ingredients needed to start this culinary adventure.

The marinade, or “Adobo,” requires the following ingredients, which Jacinta will present:
– 500 milliliters (16.907 OZ.) of oil
– 5 Guajillo chili (chili california)
– 3 garlic cloves
– 1 onion

We will roast all the ingredients in an iron pan and then fry them in oil. Once fried, we remove them from the oil and blend them with the 500 milliliters (16.907 OZ.) of oil. After blending, we boil the mixture.

To complement these mouthwatering tacos, we will prepare a traditional spicy sauce. Gather the following ingredients:
– Green tomatoes or “Tomatillo”
– Sea salt
– Yahualica chilis
– 2 cloves of garlic
– Serrano (or Jalapeño) chilis
– 1/2 onion

Boil the tomatillos in water for 5 minutes, and simultaneously roast the chilis, onion, and garlic. Blend them with a small amount of water, as shown in the video, and adjust the seasoning with salt. Feel free to add avocado if desired.

Now, let’s prepare the fillings for our tacos. We will create three delicious stews – beans, potatoes, and greaves.

For the potato stew, cook them in water, mash them, and season with chorizo and salt. Heat the pressed chicharrón (greaves) in a pan until ready to use.

Once our stews are prepared, it’s time to assemble our “Tacos de Canasta.” If you don’t have a basket, a large pot will work as well. Line the basket or pot with brown paper, or alternatively, use foil or kitchen paper. Place a clean plastic bag inside and add more paper.

Now, let’s fill our tacos! We need 1 kilogram (2.21 LBS.) of warm corn tortillas and our prepared stews. Carefully arrange the tacos in the basket, ensuring each one has its unique flavor. Top with onions and generously bathe them in the hot Adobo marinade.

Cover the tacos well with paper, the bag, and a thick, dry kitchen cloth. Allow them to rest for an hour and a half.

Let’s taste our creation by trying one taco from each stew. Just like the iconic street food experience, we serve the Tacos de Canasta with hot sauce and pickled carrots.

Wow, these flavors are spectacular! The deliciousness is indescribable. This is how you enjoy traditional Mexican tacos. Our recipe stands out, even Jacinta loves it!

That concludes today’s recipe. If you enjoyed it, make sure to subscribe to my channel for more delicious recipes. Don’t forget to give the video a thumbs up and share it on your social media platforms.
