HOUSEBOUND Ep.8: A Glimpse Inside Tommy Smythe’s New Home

# Designer Tommy Smythe Launches His Own Design Firm and Shows His Home Studio in Toronto

Tommy Smythe, a household name in design, shares exciting news about launching his own design firm. In this Zoom chat with Lynda Reeves of House & Home, he gives us a sneak peek of his home studio in downtown Toronto.

Tommy’s new firm, T.O.M., stands for Traditional, Modern, and Organic, and will operate as a partnership with a group of like-minded creatives. It’s a very organic process, as Tommy explains.

Tommy spent nearly a month in isolation with his partner, Patrick Biller, who is a contributing photographer at House & Home, and they were fortunate enough to have the necessary equipment to capture this chat smoothly.

Tommy’s home studio is almost completed and boasts a beautiful fireplace at the back, which they painted in one of Tommy’s favorite blacks – Off Black by Farrow & Ball. The walls are Pavilion Gray, also by Farrow & Ball, and the floors are painted in Benjamin Moore’s Cloud White.

  1. It's been 3 years since that interview. I have watched Tommy Smythe. & Sarah Richardson in reruns of all they did together since 2020 . Working so well together with talent & some odd taste but works well who & how the clients are well pleased. He looks so great at 50 at that time. Can't believe it very good looking talented & works hard love his humor to. Had no idea He went solo thought he & Sarah were still together as working partners. Toronto i am familiar with it as that was my vacation spot is a awesome city when Design Inc was filmed there. Everything & the best to you Thomas Smythe. Great interview at a time of this terrible widespread of Covid 19 your shows kept my company at home very well. ❤

  2. Love your style and so glad you left Sarah. I always found her style very formulaic. … and expected. .. very correct but no real personality, like upscale showroom.

  3. I wish she would quit interrupting. It would be better if you decide to give each other breaks in conversation. Less rude and annoying as I wanted to hear what he was going to say.

  4. Congratulations Tommy !!! Would love to follow you. Will you have a you tube channel.? I’m not on Facebook but would love to follow you. Good luck in what ever you do (although I don’t think you will need it)

  5. Please let Tommy choose combinations, designs, fabrics and furniture… Why does Sarah control what has to be done… I don't like her ideas. Let Tommy speak and choose he's a wealth talent.

  6. I would like to see his input in all the designs. Tommy and Sarah are great designers but I love Tommy's classic, elegant style… when Tommy puts designs together they are exceptional, unique and beautiful.
