How to Achieve Celebrity Status in the World of Mixology: Mastering Booze on the Rocks

# Naked and Famous Drink Recipe | Booze On The Rocks

Join us on Booze On The Rocks as we make the Naked and Famous drink, a variation created by Joaquín Simó at the famous New York speakeasy Death & Co[^1^]. This cocktail is described as “the bastard child born out of an illicit Oaxacan love affair between the classic Last Word and the Paper Plane,” which is Sam Ross’s variation on the Last Word[^1^]. With its perfect balance of bitter Aperol and smoky Mezcal, it is tied together beautifully by lime juice and Strega[^1^].

Today on Booze On The Rocks we make the Naked and Famous drink. Joaquín Simó originally created this variation while at New York speakeasy Death & Co. He describes it as “the bastard child born out of an illicit Oaxacan love affair between the classic Last Word and the Paper Plane,” which is Sam Ross’s variation on the Last Word. With its balance of bitter Aperol and smoky Mezcal, its tied nicely together by the Lime Juice and Strega. Try it and let me know what you think.

  1. Hi David, I am enjoying this drink now, for second or third time made. Lui Fernandes published it and I noted it. I make it with Yellow Chatreuse as I can get the yellow and green in England. The Naked and Famous is beautifully coloured and whilst the lime juice gives it a dryness, the complexities of flavours makes this so enjoyable. Nick from York home a short while ago from holiday with my wife to celebrate my retirement last Thursday.
