## The DARK SIDE of ETSY: Selling Digital Products and AI Generated Art Designs
Are you struggling to make sales on Etsy due to increasing competition? Don’t worry, there’s still a way to succeed in selling digital art and products on this platform. In this video, Scott Voelker shares a five-step solution to help you stand out from the saturated market and boost your profits.
But before we dive into the solution, let’s address the first step – **identifying a niche**. Instead of creating random digital art, narrow down your focus to cater to a specific niche, such as boho western, boho kitchen art, or boho wall art for bathrooms. By targeting a specific audience with their unique style preferences, you’ll have a better chance of attracting buyers.
Another way to differentiate yourself is by offering your designs on **physical products** through print on demand services like Printify. This allows you to provide customers with more options like canvases, posters, pillows, and blankets, all printed with your digital art. By offering a variety of products, you’ll stand out from your competitors who are only selling digital files.
To truly separate yourself from the competition, it’s important to build your **own external traffic channels**. One effective method is to build an email list by offering your products as a giveaway and promoting it through Facebook ads or relevant Facebook groups. Leveraging the audience of YouTubers or influencers in your niche can also be highly beneficial. By collaborating with them for shout-outs or sponsored posts, you’ll tap into their established following and generate more traffic.
Additionally, don’t limit yourself to just one product. **Create more products**, both digital and physical, to cater to different customer preferences. This not only expands your target audience, but also notifies past customers or those who have favorited your shop about new offerings. By consistently adding new products, you’ll increase your visibility and encourage repeat purchases.
Finally, the last step is offering **personalization**. Stand out from the crowd by providing customized artwork. By doing so, you’ll not only rank higher in personalized searches, but also attract customers who are specifically looking for one-of-a-kind pieces. Offering personalization requires extra effort, but it’s worthwhile to differentiate yourself from thousands of competitors.
Implementing these five steps will not only help you beat your competition on Etsy, but also drive more sales and improve your search rankings. Remember, Etsy promotes active and successful sellers, so the more sales you make, the higher you’ll climb in the search results.

My whole idea is if I get into POD, I saw the tags are soooo over saturated that my only chance in getting a piece of that market is by being consistent with my product presentation and a large amount of products at that. So would it be best to say that the market is still viable, but the time/money/effort is increased?
I got on Esty when they first started, and they kicked me out because someone reported one of my items, since then, I started my very own website, using a host, and I have been happy ever since. I suggest you don't rely on Etsy, because you never know when they will kick you off, have a backup plan just in case.
Hey, I have started my etsy shop one month ago but I didn't get any sale. Can I get sales without ads? Please help me in this regard.
At this point, is the niche POD on Esty already over-saturated too? It feels like every person out there is doing the niche idea already. There must be a lot of people watching similar niche POD videos on Youtube. Everyone is using the same POD provider as in Printful or Printify, and aren't people already sick of the same product lines?
Hopefully Canon works on the V10 a bit more because the footage looked better than the Sony
What kind of CRM are you using if it's not to much trouble to ask
This Boho trend needs to just stop lol
Its really kind-of funny all these people who think they can just create AI art with NO ART DIRECTION SKILL and still create compelling artworks that will connect with a niche and sell. It would be like someone saying that the Director of a film doesn't need any skill if the actors in the film are really good… The Director of a film just like the ART DIRECTOR of AI artwork/illustrations/graphic design needs to have extraordinary skill to sculpt the artwork in a way that is compelling and connects with a niche…
Excellent content! I'm going to implement all of the suggestions you've mentioned to my Digital Invitation business to increase sales. Thanks for this!
